Just a wee bit of info to introduce myself

My name is Cynthia Popnoe-Hoad. I was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and now live in Wales, UK, with my husband, two Airedales, and an acre of garden and woodland.  I have always loved wool, the different weaves and textures in fabric and learned sewing at an early age from my mother, making my own clothes, and watching my grandmothers knit, needlepoint, crochet and quilt. I fell in love with traditional rug hooking during a trip to Maine in 2014, later discovering punch needle, which became my passion after taking Amy Oxford’s course at the Reeth Rug School, Yorkshire, UK in 2016, where I found an outlet for my creative side.

For the Love of Wool provides a platform for me to share with others my love of punch needle and wool and to support mental wellbeing through craft. As a mental health counsellor for many years, I am able to link this craft with a type of mindful practice, as it has its own rhythm and lends space to taking time for myself.

I am a member of the Oxford Certified Punch Needle Instructors Guild, Pembrokeshire Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, Starry Stitchers, Ontario Rug Hooking Guild, and a volunteer at the National Wool Museum in Drefach Felindre.

To see my creative spirit at work, learn about upcoming events, courses and drop-in sessions, why not subscribe to my website, have a look at my blog or follow me on FB and Instagram. (Still on my own journey to learn better how to engage with you on social media🥴).

I want you to find the same joy and passion in this craft that I have found.  Please feel free to message me with any questions.

With warmest wishes for your Punch Needle Journey
Cynthia
