LEARN TO HOOK A RUG IN A DAY - BEGINNERS PUNCH NEEDLE COURSE (MAY 20, 2023)

If you’ve always wanted to learn to make a hooked rug, here’s a chance to try your hand at a small project to see how you like it. This course is designed for beginners who want to explore the basics of punch needle rug hooking. It is a fast and easy craft to learn. You’ll make a beautiful 6” x 6” Star, Heart or Flower mat that may be used as a trivet, wall hanging, or table top decoration. By doing this, you’ll learn everything necessary to hook larger rugs. Please note there is a lot to learn in a day and the class will be full on. No previous experience with the punch needle is necessary.

LUNCH: Please bring your own lunch. Coffee/Tea, Biscuits and Cake will be provided.
MATERIALS INCLUDED: 18” x 18” piece of Monk’s Cloth for punching (allowance made for stretching over frame and hemming). 100% Wool Yarn - hand dyed (both solid and spot dyed). Full Instructions to take home with you.
MATERIALS TO BE BORROWED DURING CLASS (can be purchased at end of class).
1) #10 Regular Oxford Punch needle with handbook, stitch gauge, and box
2) 10” x 10” Oxford Gripper Strip Lap Frame

Threading a Punch Needle
Understanding the different size punch needles and their uses

Stitch Gage (number of stitches for outlining and filling)

How to fix mistakes.
Finishing Techniques.
MAXIMUM number for the course is 6 but will take place as long as 3 people sign up for the course. If there are not enough people for the course, you will receive a full refund.
